My Dad is John S. McMahon Sr. Do you know him? I’m proud to say that I do. You may know him as “Mac” or “Exjake”. He has taught me some important things in life they are as follows:

To Watch
I remember looking out the car window at all the snow as we drove along the road. Up ahead I could see someone trying to push the car back onto the road with out much success. With no hesitation he stopped the car got out pushed the car back on to the road and we left.

To Listen
I remember throwing a baseball on the porch roof thump, thump I would catch it in my glove. A few moments later I heard a voice say “Don’t do that you will break the window”. I continued to do it…I broke the window. I ran but he was right there He calmly stated “Didn’t I tell you not to do that?” not waiting for a reply he said calmly “When I tell you something listen”.

To Learn
I remember going to see him at the station he would be studying while others were watching TV at the station. He then became a Lieutenant. He continued doing the same thing, and He became a Deputy Chief.

To Love
He has not been to busy for a visit with me or for me to visit him. He has not turned his back on me nor I on him. Whenever something is needed we have been there for each other.

I continue to watch, listen, and learn from him everytime speaks, writes or when we work together. With RP (Retinitus Pigmentosa) doing its damage he continues to be a source of insperation on FFF and VIF he shows his point of view on both sites. One saying really sums up his positive outlook towards life and RP it is this simple statement "I have RP, RP does't have me!"
